Ufi Learn Direct, the organisation responsible for managing the Life in the UK test centres, has confirmed that they will introduce the revised Life in the UK test using a three month transition period. The transition period will allow test applicants to choose to sit either the current or new Life in the UK Test depending on which materials they have studied from. The Home Office aims to phase out the current Life in the UK test. The last day that it will be possible to take the current test will be 30 June 2007. The new test will be available to take from 2 April 2007. Study Materials to use The Home Office have advised test applicants that they need to be sure they choose the correct materials for their test. The following materials can be used to study for the current test. - British Citizenship Test: Study Guide (2nd Ed) - ISBN 978-0-9552-1592-6 - British Citizenship Test: Practice Questions (1st Ed) - ISBN 978-0-9552-1590-2 The new test is based on revised materials that have not yet been published. The following titles can be used to study for the new test. - Life in the UK Test: Practice Questions (2nd Ed) available from 18 April 2007 - ISBN 978-0-9552-1593-3 - Life in the UK Test: Study Guide (3rd Ed) available from 20 May 2007 - ISBN 978-0-9552-1594-0 Notes to Editors 1. The Life in the UK Test is a 24 question multiple choice test on British history, culture, and values. 2. From 2 April 2007, passing the test will be a requirement for anyone wishing to apply for citizenship or settlement (also known as 'permanent residence', 'indefinite leave to remain' or ILR) in the UK 3. The current version of the Life in the UK Test was introduced in 2005 and covers chapters 2, 3, and 4 of the Home Office handbook Life in the United Kingdom: A journey to citizenship. The new version of the test will cover chapters 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 of a new edition of the same handbook. |
